Lucky Pink Undies Frame

THE LUCKY PINK UNDIES

On 12 December 2022, Queensland Police Constable Randall Kirk was shot during the Wieambilla ambush.

The pink Step Ones he was wearing that day now hang framed on his wall.

$10 from every pair donated to Queensland Police Legacy.

My colleagues have framed my last pair of pink Step One underwear with the caption:

“The Lucky Pink Undies. 12th December 2022.”

I was lucky enough to have only been shot in the upper left thigh before my offsider and I managed to get out with our lives.

The symbolic detail in the framed pair through that bullet hole is something I reflect on daily.

It’s the small things in life that help the bigger picture and Step One is one of those small things that has helped with my life.

Wieambilla

THE WIEAMBILLA AMBUSH

On 12 December 2022, four Queensland police officers attended a remote property in Wieambilla during a missing persons investigation.

It was a planned ambush.

Constables Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold were killed.

Constable Randall Kirk survived after being shot in the leg while escaping the property.

WE DIDN’T ASK RANDALL FOR A CAMPAIGN.

We got an email.

A surviving Queensland police officer sharing the story behind a framed pair of pink underwear hanging on his wall.

Not as a joke.

As a reminder.

So with Randall’s blessing, we remade them.

“The Lucky Pinks.”

And for every pair sold, we’re donating $10 to Queensland Police Legacy.

MORE THAN JUST PINK UNDIES.

A reminder.
A tribute.
And proof that sometimes the smallest things can carry the biggest stories.
